Daisies are a symbol of cheerfulness. They look up at us with their sunny faces and offer us a physical reminder of brightness and positivity.
I don’t think they want us to force a smile and soldier on through life. I think they encourage us to notice what is already light within us and allow it to bubble up to the surface.
I started photographing Gerbera daisies with my macro lens this spring and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. (Above is one of the five that made it to finished images.) They are so openly friendly, I find it hard not to be in a good mood around them.
Also, Gerberas are known for their ability to remove toxic chemicals from the air, specifically benzene, trichloroethylene (TCE), and formaldehyde. It’s true—NASA tested them🙂
