I Did a 14-Week Raw Foods Cleanse

April 4, 2019 by Claiborne Ashby

I did a raw foods cleanse a couple of years ago—14 weeks on fruits and vegetables only. It was extreme, and by the end I was losing too much weight and spending too much time thinking about eating an egg sandwich, so I’m not suggesting that you …

February 13, 2019 by Claiborne Ashby

Sometimes Love wants to act with a level of integrity that seems difficult, or be vulnerable in a way that feels risky. Other times, Love just wants to paint hearts. xo, ca

13 Clean(er) Beauty Products

January 17, 2019 by Claiborne Ashby

For the last few years I’ve been shifting everything from household cleaners to lip balms and toothpaste over to more natural versions. It was relatively easy to find cleaning products I was willing to use, but beauty products have been more of a …

Cleaner Cleaners

January 9, 2019 by Claiborne Ashby

It was late at night and I was standing in my kitchen. I had recently finished Marie Kondo-ing my condo and was feeling pleased with my efforts. I assessed every item in my home for a sense of joy, except for the pictures (more than I was willing to …

Gratitude and Oranges

December 19, 2018 by Claiborne Ashby

Years ago I tried keeping a gratitude journal. Oprah told me to, and I hoped it would help me through a particularly rough year. I’m a good list maker so I started writing out these long lists of things I thought I should feel grateful for, but I …

Choose Your Focus

December 5, 2018 by Claiborne Ashby

In every moment you have the power to choose your focus. How will you focus? Where will you focus? What will you focus on? These questions almost seem too difficult to answer. There are so many options. But in the big picture there are always only …

Left Brain v. Right Brain

November 27, 2018 by Claiborne Ashby

If you have spent any time meditating, you have surely noted that your brain is talking to you all of the time. What you may not have realized is that this verbal activity comes from only one side of your brain—the left side. The right side of your …

The Real Reason You Should Forgive People — And How to Do It

September 16, 2014 by Claiborne Ashby

Forgiveness is a virtue, of course. But forgiving the people who have hurt you is also a very selfish practice, in the best kind of way. Imagine that you’re at the bottom of a deep, murky lake with a giant boulder tied to your left ankle. You’re down …

A dolphin for my niece’s 8th birthday. She likes A dolphin for my niece’s 8th birthday. She likes *lots* of animals, but her favorites mostly start with ‘p’ — puppy, panda, penguin, and of course, dolphin (porpoise?) 🎉

This was inspired by a fish drawing she made for me during the pandemic. She described it as a place where everyone is happy 🥲💗

My sister asked me to make an animal for her birth My sister asked me to make an animal for her birthday. I picked hummingbird. She told me her favorite color combination - orange + blue-green. The result, I think, is a tiny message of joy. ~May she find joy in unexpected places 🧡

P.S. There is an actual species of hummingbird that wears rainbow colors. O to V from tail to head 🤩

This is the most inspiring and inspired climate ch This is the most inspiring and inspired climate change discussion I've ever read. According to the author, it's completely doable to restore our climate to pre-industrial CO2 levels by 2050. (Of course, we need to reach net zero emissions, too.) The plan he lays out makes a lot of sense *and* seems to respect the Earth.

“People often ask me why I’m so confident that we can restore the climate. I tell them, “Because it’s been done before.” Nature has removed massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere 10 times in the last million years, and likely many more times before then.” - Peter Fiekowsky, Climate Restoration

I’m feeling a renewed sense of optimism for the future. You can find more discussion on my blog. Link is in my profile.

Check out the book and see what you think.
